SAAP Superyacht Deck Ratings Familiarization Course
The Superyacht Deck Rating Familiarization Course is a 5-day in-house training program designed by the Superyacht Academy in Asia and the Pacific (SAAP) to introduce aspiring crew to the fundamental duties, routines, and expectations aboard luxury yachts. It serves as an essential entry point for those preparing for careers as deckhands on vessels under 3000GRT.
This practical course covers core competencies including line handling, mooring operations, ropework and knot tying, deck maintenance and washdowns, RIB/tender familiarization, VHF radio communication, guest embarkation support, and participation in emergency drills such as man overboard, fire response, and abandon ship.
Please note: This is not a license course and does not issue a Certificate of Competency. It is an internal familiarization program designed for foundational training and industry preparedness.
This course also serves as a valuable preparation pathway for crew members planning to undertake their International Yacht Training (IYT) certifications and examinations, helping build confidence and core skills before engaging in licensed training.

SAAP Superyacht Wine Course
The Superyacht Wine Course offered by the Superyacht Academy in Asia and the Pacific (SAAP) is an in-house training program tailored for aspiring and active superyacht steward(ess) and hospitality crew. This course provides a solid foundation in wine knowledge and service etiquette expected onboard luxury yachts.
Participants will explore essential topics including wine classification, tasting techniques, pairing principles, storage and handling aboard yachts, and formal service presentation. The program also introduces Old World vs. New World wines, common onboard wine requests, and how to navigate preferences of discerning guests.
Note: This is not a license course, but an internal skills-based training designed to build competence and confidence in yacht-standard wine service.
